Rescue Me ID: 16-09-07-00319Bean (female)

English Springer Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

What a sweet and kind English Springer Spaniel mix our Bean is! At 2.5 - 3 years old and just about 39 lbs, Bean is an incredibly beautiful girl. We all know that Bean has arrived when we see the wag that starts at her tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle.. She is initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as she's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for her pending euthanasia date. When she was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring Storm to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado. Once Bean senses that all present are her friends, ... (Read More)she is so warm and friendly that she always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. She is learning to play fetch and waits expectantly...with her eyes so bright and run off again after the ball. Bean seems to have a bit of leash experience as she's developed some skills and seems to love the experience. Farfel's Rescue has determined that Bean needs a mellow home where she is an active and important member of the family. We feel that Bean would be happiest in an only-dog home where she can get the attention that she was denied for so long. While Bean enjoys many dogs (most are larger than she is), she isn't happy with jumping smaller dogs that get into her space. We believe that Bean would blossom in an adult home (active retirees would be perfect) where there's a more predictable environment. Bean would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day together either hiking or walking through the beauty of Colorado. Then at day's end, she's the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night. It is Bean's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put her through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Bean has tested low HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves two series of shots followed by mellow time. We have found this to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Bean as she becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as she becomes healthily heartworm-free. Bean (like all dogs) would benefit from positive reinforcement group obedience classes that included the whole family - she is a super-smart girl who truly wants to please. Great training will give Bean the skills to be an excellent adult dog. These type of classes will also bring out the great qualities of this English Springer Spaniel mix as well as creating a tightly-knit bonding with all family members . Bean has a beautiful coat (softest ever!) with such distinctive markings. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cottony-soft hair healthy and matt-free. Bean is currently being fostered in the Denver area. Applications are being accepted and Meet and Greets are currently being set up. Adoption applications can be found at If interested in this sweet and devoted companion, please fill out and return to or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)
